The Australian Dollar (AUD) is known for its strong correlation with gold prices among the different currencies in the world. Here are some other terms that are common in forex trading;

‘Appreciation’ is an increase in the value of a currency, regardless of territory or region.

‘Ask’ is the asking price or a price that is being pushed by the trader. This is usually the lowest price the seller is willing to accept or sell his currency.

‘Base currency’ is the currency by which the investor is buying or selling.

A ‘bear’ is a person who believes that currency prices or rates are going downward, while a ‘bear market’ is characterized by a sustained fall in prices and value for which it may not be able to recover quickly.

A ‘bid’ is the price offered by the trader and is indicated by the highest prices a buyer will likely pay.

The ‘bid/ask’ as it goes together as a term, is when the bid rate is the rate at which a trader can sell and the ask rate is the rate at which the trader can buy.

When one hears a ‘bull’, it is simply a person who is generally optimistic and enthusiastic about the market, while a ‘bull market’ is characterized by sustained and enthusiastic buying.

When trading between two currencies, a trader buys a currency with another one and these currencies are called the ‘cross’ like the EURUSD(Euro/USD).

Meanwhile, a cross rate is the exchange rate calculated from the two other exchange rates in the forex trading market.

What is Forex? Forex is the abbreviation for Foreign Exchange (currency trading, also called FX), and it is the largest financial market in the world. The Forex market is where it is traded in the currency (the currency is money that is used as a switch agent). In other words, it is the place where they sell and buy currencies.

The value of the investment fluctuates with the currencies. In short, the goal is to make profit on these fluctuations.

With a daily turnover of more than 3.2 trillion USD, the Forex market quickly has become the largest financial market on the planet. Nevertheless, it is a market that until recently have only given a very limited access to private dealers. Partly because of difficult procedures and partly because of difficult terms.

This have changed, and it is now easy for anyone to try Forex.

Trading in currencies means that there are always two concurrent transactions that take place. If you are about to buy a currency, you sell it at the same time. To understand this concept better, think of the currency as both goods you buy and the method of how to pay for the goods.

Because the Forex market is such that the currencies are traded in realtime, it is possible exchange one currency for another and draw profit from this transaction. Profits are made when one is able to decide how currency values should increase to the end of a period that one has decided in advance (such period may be shorter or longer).
